Go for bold. As the saying goes. This attic bedroom shows off its sloping walls with pride and is consequently a bright, energetic space. A minimalist bed and desk area fit in neatly and make this teenagers room a fun retreat. Wow with white. All white is a fail-safe space enhancer, but there are so many ways to do it. Here soft neutrals add just the right amount of warmth, while the minimal wall decorations draw the eye to the window and the view beyond. The neat built-in wall unit keeps clutter tucked out of sight behind slick drawer fronts, creating a serene mood.
You may also want to upload a site plan of your home, showing where your bedroom fits into the building. Knowing your context, the space around your design site is important. Are there a lot of trees or tall buildings in your neighborhood? Use Google Maps to view and print out an aerial photo of your building. Cool, huh?
I love the calming and clean atmosphere this space has, which I think is really important for a childs room. As a Mid Century design geek I love the simple wooden mobile hanging above the cot, the print of the wolf cub matches the earthy tones of the wood and cushion perfectly. I also love the idea of having photography of baby animals in a kids room, its just the right amount of cuteness whilst still feeling a little grown up. I am a big fan of Middle eastern textiles and I really like the slight juxtaposition of the candy coloured persian rug and monochrome block printed throw. I chose this image as it has a great balance of mature style with cute elements and I think a room like this could be easily adapted as the child grows up.
It is no secret that we all use our bedrooms for different purposes. The bedroom serves many functions. A bedroom can be a place to sleep, study, entertain friends, share, and relax. How do you combine these vastly different uses into one small space? Bedrooms are typically designed simply, as rectangular rooms that include a window, a closet, and a door. The rest is a blank canvas for the owner to create a space that reflects his or her personality.
